Random Thoughts

OK, so I am getting myself in trouble with my deep thoughts on relationships and the like in the arena of emails, so I thought I'd come here to a more secure place and just post thoughts random as they be. While reading today's NPR's All SONGS Considered, I came across the following.:

Now 30 years old, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono follows his 1998 debut solo album Into the Sun with a sharp new collection of original work called Friendly Fire. He's joined on the album by Paul Simon's son, Harper, who plays guitar.

And I think, that's nice, I'll take a listen. Minimally, I'll get to hear the voice of Paul Simon's son, which would be of interest to me, being a PS fan for, well, many years. Maximally, I may even like the voice of John Lennon's son. I certainly was a fan of his dad. And then I noticed the picture.......OMG, is he getting old or am I? When in god's name did little Sean get to be a grown man? I mean whatever happened to Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful Boy ???

Close your eyes, Have no fear, The monsters gone, He's on the run and your daddy's here,
Beautiful, Beautiful, beautiful, Beautiful Boy,
Before you go to sleep, Say a little prayer, Every day in every way, It's getting better and better,
Beautiful, Beautiful, beautiful, Beautiful Boy,
Out on the ocean sailing away, I can hardly wait, To see you to come of age, But I guess we'll both, Just have to be patient, Yes it's a long way to go, But in the meantime,
Before you cross the street, Take my hand, Life is just what happens to you, While your busy making other plans,
Beautiful, Beautiful, beautiful, Beautiful Boy, Darling, Darling, Darling Sean.

Well, I guess we've seen him come of age.

Sherril-I saw your post at work the other night, but I couldn't read what you had written because of the archaic computer. The pictures are gorgeous! Though I don't think I will be able to join you at the museum anytime soon! I have never studied art, so probably couldn't explain why they are good. I just know that I usually like to look at pictures that look like places I would like to be. When you see the right picture, you almost get a yearning...you wish that you could step through the picture and be there. Once I saw a picture like that, but there were horses in the picture and I started thinking about all of the flies and then I didn't like it anymore..ha! They are also pictures that are....transendent? They show common scenes but none of the drabness and all of the beauty.

Julian Lennon is on the top of my list as one of the best looking male celebrities. I don't get into those model types. Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise....sniff! Whatever!
I wonder what it is like to have your father gone, but his legend always there? It's like having your dad but so elusive. Then the only dad you know becomes younger than you. Very strange. We don't hear much about him, though I think he was talented as well. Sean Lennon is grown now too and looks a lot like Julian. Have you seen his photos? But if I said I thought he was very good-looking I would sound like a pedophile I guess! So I won't say it.
